֍ 65 ֍ A Personal Journey • Through the Lens
When musicians recite notes, they demonstrate a proficiency baseline. Transitioning from good to great requires practice, passion, and dedication. Excellence is achieved when improvisation is attained—a level where virtuosity is born from subconscious insight. Actors don’t just memorize lines, they bring emotion to their performance. Great artists don’t just paint what they see – they’re pouring their souls onto the canvas. Photographers are no different. When emotions are synchronized, photoshoots enter a state of transcendental intimacy. The best guitarists always have a guitar in their hands. The best writers consistently write. The best artists create continually. Similarly, photographers must always be shooting. The ultimate goal is to move beyond technology. Great art begins with photographic improvisation.
Renowned photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson once said, “Your first 10,000 photos are your worst”. Photographers need to pass this threshold to begin their journey to greatness. In the days of film, this was an expensive endeavor – the digital era allows for cost-effective experimentation. Don’t be afraid to fail. In the worst case, photos are deleted. At least you tried. Magic is not attained in a box.
Find artists who inspire you, and try to decipher their creative journey. I maintain a list of around 150 top art nude photographers from around the world who are my source of inspiration. Appreciating their images is an artistic and technical endeavor. Understanding how they constructed scenes helps improve my technique. Duplicating a great pose, scene, or emotion is an opportunity to create a brand-new opus. Art is an endless pursuit of inspiration on the journey to excellence.
Many photographers have influenced me throughout the years. My first coffee table book was Herb Ritts Works, © 1989, Bulfinch Press,. His style still resonates with me. In the ‘90s, I was greatly influenced by Sports Illustrated photographers Walter Iooss Jr, Russell James, and Raphael Mazzucco. Current favorites are Ana Dias from Porto, Portugal; David Bellemere from Paris, France; Bruno Bisang from Ascona, Switzerland; Andreas Bitsnich from Vienna, Austria; and Alexander Mavrin from St. Petersburg, Russia. Reaching the heights of these legends will be a journey filled with joy at every step. I would love to spend time with each of them. I envision photo-shooting beautiful models throughout the day and chatting about art and creativity in the evenings. I would seek their wisdom and understanding of how they approach life. We would talk about our passions and disappointments, dreams, and limitations. It would be a spiritual awakening.
For aspiring photographers, here’s my advice:
Find your compassion and nourish your empathy as soon as possible. Discover your true self and embrace your confidence. Live an authentic life. Once you get there, no one can hurt you.

Dusil Photography captures exquisite moments with models who dare to be vulnerable and enter the world of sensuality. I’ve been blessed with the freedom to explore their deepest emotions. Whether it’s alluring curves or a seductive gaze, each photograph tells her story. My portfolio reflects a seamless fusion of feminine beauty and compassion.
