Life is a series of steps. Good decisions help us climb. Sometimes, synchronized circumstances cause a significant leap upward. Likewise, unforeseen tragedies can send us downward. Throughout this journey, we try to create safety nets to protect us from falling.
If you’re climbing, you’re growing. If you’re standing still, you’re falling behind.
If you’re climbing, you’re growing. If you’re standing still, you’re falling behind. New steps are being created in front of us, so when we stagnate, we’re effectively falling behind.
We tend to confuse our steps to symbolize money, power, or fame. But they could just as easily represent a path to enlightenment, learning who we are, or a metaphor for reaching our full potential.
Our offspring inherit the steps we’ve already climbed. When my kids were young, I told them, “One of my main goals is to make you better than me”. To achieve steps beyond my capabilities. By the time they were teenagers, it was clear they had already surpassed me in many ways. They continue to impress me every day.
