These are accessories that I try to avoid in my photoshoots. My main goal is to capture the model’s essence, so I generally find accessories to be a distraction. Circumstances need to be exceptional for me to veer from these rules:
- No Animals, Dogs, Fish, or Snakes
- No Lime Green or Purple Clothes
- No Cigarettes, Cigars, Smoke or Smoking
- No Sports, Balls, Tennis, or Tracksuits
- No Pantyhose, Suspenders, Vintage, or Wide Hip Lingerie
- No Hats, Food, Branding, or Plastic
- No Sweaters, Winter Coats, or Bulky Clothes
- No Syrup, Milk, Oil, or Paint
- No Weapons, Guns, Knives, Military Gear, or Fatigues
- No Vehicles, Cars, Bikes, or Trucks

- No Excessive Makeup or Cosplay
- No Divas, Attitude, or Emotionless
- No Botox, Duckface or Joker smiles
- No Fingers in the Mouth, or Tongue out
- No Bondage, S&M, or Chains
- No Hair Buns or Tied Hair
- No Neck Cranking, Uncomfortable or Nonsensical Poses
- No Voyeur or Paparazzi Photographs
- No Vulgar, Gross, Tasteless or Gratuitous
- No Children, Under 18, or Male Models

Here is my Top 10 List of Composition “Don’ts”. It’s not a strict list but the talent and circumstances need to be exceptional for me to veer from these rules:
- No Out-of-Focus
- No Censorship
- No Covered: Face, Mouth, Chin or Half-Face
- No Cropped Hands, Feet, Foreheads or Heads
- No Staring Into Space
- No Train Tracks
- No Upside-Down or Unbalanced Poses
- No Selfies
- No Snow, Cold, or Freezing
- Selective Dirt, Sand, Paint or Rocks
