Artistry Without Limits • Throughout an artist’s journey, expectations are continually realigned. A creation once worthy of public consumption may one day become unsatisfactory. This division between what is good and, well… the not so good… is called the #ToA • Threshold of Acceptance. This ever-changing line is most apparent when skills are rapidly improving during the initial stages of development. Progression is less apparent as diminishing returns set in with time. Images in my portfolio are continually being curated. Revisiting past sessions reveals how expectations have changed as skills have improved, editing techniques have evolved, and access to cutting-edge technologies has expanded. #ToA also applies to scouting on both sides. Top models evaluate a photographer’s skills against improving their portfolios. Better photos lead to higher-paying events and improve their brand. Maintaining brand consistency is instrumental in an age where images propagate endlessly through cyberspace. Likewise, gaining access to higher-caliber models raises my #ToA and challenges me to raise my game.
