MENTOR SERIES ☆ 2 • MY BIGGEST CHALLENGE

Welcome to another episode of Articles of a Mentor, a conversation with my son, Matias Dusil, where we revisit the ideas, philosophies, and life lessons behind the articles I have written throughout my career. Through his questions, I have the opportunity to look back not only on the words but also on the experiences, challenges, and personal growth that have shaped them.

In this episode, we explore Chapter 2, “My Biggest Challenge,” in which I reflect on some of the most difficult aspects of nude art photography: creating a genuine emotional connection with the person standing in front of my camera. While anyone can learn the technical elements of photography—lighting, composition, and posing—the true art lies in building enough trust so that someone feels comfortable revealing their soul.

This lesson was not something I understood from the beginning of my career. It revealed itself gradually, through countless encounters, successes, and mistakes. My conversation with Matias allows me to examine how my understanding of photography evolved – from the pursuit of creating beautiful images to the deeper realization that the most meaningful photographs are born from empathy, trust, and a brief but profound connection between two human beings.
