The most dangerous phrases in modern society are not spoken aloud – they are demonstrated through actions, through a philosophy void of accountability. While everyone is capable of moments of selfishness, the true hallmark of this mentality is the proud rejection of self-reflection and the belief that the consequences of one’s actions are always someone else’s fault. The uncomfortable question may not be whether this should be discussed openly, but how often we tolerate it, enable it, or even participate in it ourselves.

#IDGAFC • I Don’t Give A Ꞙμȼḵ, Culture is a reflection of society that shows a complete disregard for the humanity of others. They perpetrate atrocities with no remorse. They frame themselves as victims. On the spectrum of self-awareness, they rank at the bottom. They turn to their debtors, claiming no money, requesting empathy, and expecting clemency. But it’s theater as they repeat the process with the next influx of cash, because they don’t give a fuck! #YJAPOSP • Models work with a wide spectrum of sentimentalities. The same applies to photographers. In extreme situations, photoshoots play out as You’re Just a Piece-of-Shit Photographer, along the lines of, “I don’t care about the images. Just take my photo and give me my money so I can get out of here as soon as possible.” These sessions make my heart sink, knowing the model isn’t willing to put in the effort. Since my lens is a gateway to her eyes, and thus to her soul, if she looks into the camera, then the sterility of our session is revealed. In rare cases, I needed to cut the session short, realizing that this empty atmosphere would persist till the end. I always pay the model in full with additional funds lost in studio fees. But it doesn’t end there. Spending hours in post-production replays the mood of our session as images are sent to the bin. Thankfully, this scenario is very rare. It underscores my need to continually refine my selection process during the casting phase.

Apathy • “You can tell me your [schedule, plans, what you like, what you don’t like, feelings, emotions] as many times as you want, but I won’t remember, because I don’t give a fuck!” 

Authoritarianism • “Cancel your [concert, event, weekend, evening, train, bus, plane, hotel], because my schedule is way more important. I don’t give a fuck about your plans. I don’t give a fuck about how much money you spent. Nothing you do will ever be more important than what I’m doing. It’s your fault that you didn’t tell me your plans in advance, because I would have canceled them way before you wasted your time. You should have learned by now that you can’t do anything without my approval. Why? Because you’re my bitch! ” • Alternate version: “I have something important to do. Cancel all your plans. I don’t give a fuck about your schedule, so never expect me to cancel what I’m doing. In fact, I’ll even schedule something that overlaps your plans, so that you won’t be able to do it because I don’t give a fuck!”

Cheating • “I’ll cheat on you over and over because I don’t give a fuck! But I’ll deny and pretend to care, because I still want your resources”.

Contempt • “Stop lecturing – stop mansplaining – stop trying to teach me something! I don’t respect you and have no interest in learning from you because I don’t give a fuck!”

Disrespect • “I have no problem doing something behind your back, even after you told me not to do it. As long as you’ll never find out, because I don’t give a fuck!”

Duplicity • “I’ll ask for your suggestions on what we should do today, but I already know what I want. I’m just asking on the off chance that your suggestion is the same as mine. I want to give the impression that this is a collaborative [friendship, partnership], but when all is said and done, I actually don’t give a fuck!”

Exploitation • “I owe you money, but you don’t remember, or haven’t asked, so I don’t give a fuck!” 

Hypocrisy • “We’ll perpetrate genocide in our back yard, and turn to the rest of the world and say we’re the victims, because we don’t give a fuck!”

Indoctrination • “I have no interests… no hobbies… no skills. My parents told me I was stupid my entire life, so no longer don’t give a fuck!”

Machiavellianism • “Watching the president is like witnessing a train wreck hitting 100 train wrecks, and down the tracks, there are 100 trains barrelling towards the wreck! Why is this happening? Because he doesn’t give a fuck!” 

Parasitism • “I need to find a partner who will finance my life because I don’t give a fuck about [love, respect, accountability]. I just need to spend someone else’s money so I can do whatever I want!”

Revenge • “I will fuck over my friends if they cross me, and they’ll never find out it was me. Revenge is sweet and… I don’t give a fuck!”
